Brit Floyd has become a worldwide phenomenon reaching the ranks of the greatest rock tribute show with their faithful recreation of scale and pomp, including light shows, iconic circular screen, lasers, and other theatrics. The band was formed with guitarist and singer Damian Darlington's initiative in 2011. He felt that he could do it better than "The Australian Pink Floyd Show", his previous band.
Darlington's fascination with Pink Floyd started when he was a kid. He reminisced listening to Pink Floy, seeing "Another Brick in the Wall" being No. 1 in the UK in 1979.
"Then I actually heard The Wall album in its entirety and that's what particularly drew me to Pink Floyd about the age of 12 or 13. I was fascinated by the record that told a story, and all these sound effects linking songs together, and also the wonderful guitar work." he narrated. At that time, he was already learning to play guitar and he wanted to learn to play some of these wonderful guitar solos.
He played with a number of bands overt he years, performing a wide range of music genres from Western, Country, and Jazz until he found The Australian Pink Floyd Show. That experience urged him to create something more nuanced, with greater attention to detail, and an overall more polished experience from the songs to the visuals. With that goal, they were able to embark on massive tours since 2011 and made their own big name.
This year features a brand new production that celebrates the 50th year of an iconic critically-acclaimed musical masterpiece. The Dark Side of the Moon is Pink Floyd's eighth studio album that tackles dark themes such as conflict, greed, time, death, and mental illness. Queen Elizabeth Theatre will house Brit Floyd's theatrics with its impressively stunning indoor architectural designs.
