The Christmas tradition returns, The Nutcracker from Goh Ballet returns to Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Thursday, December 15th 2022. Clara escapes reality into the magical Land of Snow, she takes a perilous voyage across the Lemonade Sea to the incredible Kingdom of Sweets to entreat with the Sugar Plum Fairy. Meanwhile, the brave Nutcracker must join battle with the terrible Mouse King and drive off his army of mice. The holiday classic returns with over 200 dancers, actors, gymnasts, glittering costumes, and dramatic sets brought to you by Goh Ballet and set to Tchaikovsky’s memorable score performed live by members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.
Goh Ballets The Nutcracker returns to the stage at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre with show dates from December 15th to 18th, 2022. This year’s production is choreographed in person by the Emmy Award-winning choreographer, Ms. Anna-Marie Holmes, and is performed by the best local talent and Principal Dancers from world renowned professional companies. Tchaikovsky’s memorable score will be performed live by members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.
Goh Ballet Academy is the principal school of classical ballet in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 1978, the Goh Ballet Academy is an internationally renowned institute, and recognized for its high caliber ballet training and performances. Former principal dancer of the National Ballet of Canada, Chan-hon Goh is currently the director of the academy. Since 2009, the Goh ballet has produced its own performance of The Nutcracker, with commissioned choreography by Anna-Marie Holmes. Unlike other productions, the Goh Ballet Academy’s performance of The Nutcracker is not strictly selective to their academy and features visiting professionals from international companies alongside academy students across Vancouver.
