The annual Nutcracker tradition is back! Goh Ballets famous Christmas special returns to Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Friday, December 16th 2022. Once again Clara embarks on her fateful journey over the Land of Snow and across the treacherous Lemonade Sea, as she finally enters the Kingdom of Sweets she is greeted by the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy, what fate will befall her hero, the gallant Nutcracker as he battles the evil Mouse King and his terrible Horde of Mice? The annual production by the Goh Ballet features more than 200 dancers, actors, gymnasts, glittering costumes, dramatic sets and valuable lessons, all danced to Tchaikovsky’s memorable score, and performed live by members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra.
A holiday classic and a favorite Vancouver tradition, Goh Ballet's annual production of The Nutcracker returns to the stage at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre with show dates from December 15th to 18th, 2022. The production will be choreographed by Emmy Award-winning choreographer, Ms. Anna-Marie Holmes and features over 200 of the best local talent and Principal Dancers from world renowned professional companies. Members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra will be performing Tchaikovsky’s memorable score live.
Founded in 1978, Goh Ballet Academy is the principal school of classical ballet in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has produced The Nutcracker every year since 2009. As an internationally renowned institute, it is recognized internationally for its high caliber ballet training and performances. Chan-hon Goh, former principal dancer of the National Ballet of Canada, is currently the director of the academy. Goh Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker is unique among ballet schools in that it is not strictly selective to their academy and features visiting professionals from international companies alongside academy students across Vancouver.
