The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is the oldest Candian ballet company and the longest-running in North America. They have been producing the finest productions in North America since 1939. One of those productions is the Christmas favorite "The Nutcracker," which critics comment as one of the company's most delicate and breathtaking amongst their classics. After the pandemic halted the company's shows, this is a revival of the magic you feel from live ballet performances from one of the best ballet companies in the world.
"The Nutcracker" is the masterpiece of choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Its widespread popularity started during the late 60s and has now become a staple of many ballet companies.
The show is an adaptation of E. T. A. Hoffmann's short story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King." The story follows the young girl Clara's magical adventure on Christmas Eve with the Nutcracker. A whimsical tale, you will fall in love more through the magnificent choreography, costumes, and characters from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
