Puranchand Wadali and Pyarelal Wadali, known as The Wadali Brothers, were a Sufi singing pair from Guru Ki Wadali in the Punjab province of India's Amritsar District. Born into the fifth generation of a musically-inclined family, the group dabbled in other occupations, such as wrestlers and dancers, before becoming Sufi singers.

In 1975, their debut musical performance was first hosted in the Harballabh Temple right outside of their hometown, where they were discovered by a representative of All India Radio, Jalandhar. From then, their top songs include “Rangrez,” “Tu Mane Ya Na Mane,” and “Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi.” In 2005, the Government of India and the late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, honored Ustad Puran Chand Wadali Ji with the prestigious “Padma Award."

Last 2018, the younger Pyarelal Wadali passed away at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Amritsar from a cardiac attack. Puranchand still carries on the band’s musical legacy and has recently partnered up with his son, Lakhwinder Wadali, to perform concerts across the globe. The Legendary Wadali’s is also known for recently entering the Bollywood music industry by collaborating with various film music directors and lyricists. Some of these movies include “Classmate,” “Dhoop,” “Tanu Weds Manu,” “Teena Ki Chabi,” and many others.

Indian musician and vocalist Lakhwinder Wadali is from the popular family of Wadali Brothers. The singer carries forth his family’s legacy and highlights that this has been an honor for him. “I’m lucky that I belong to Wadali gharana, and I’m glad to be part of such a house from which such stalwarts of music have come up. I don’t think about it as a pressure, rather a blessing,” Lakhwinder shares.

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre is located in Downtown Toronto, sitting on the west end of the Exhibition Place grounds. The auditorium's large columns, striking crimson seats, and textured finishes produce a modern yet inviting atmosphere for audiences.
