Their mystical instruments may prove vital for their mission, but only true conviction will allow them to overcome the myriad of trials ahead. The Magic Flute will be sung in its original German, underlined with rousing symphonies conducted by Tania Miller. As is tradition, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre will host Vancouver Opera’s riveting display. Through its stunningly lit stage and first-class comfort, the indoor performing arts venue ensures an otherworldly experience for the masses. Reserve your seats soon for the latest rendition of The Magic Flute LIVE during the tail-end of October!

For its next season, the Vancouver Opera has organized three productions BURSTING with life and color! The Magic Flute, Mozart's unexpected swan song, is first in line with dates scheduled through the last week of October at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Its performance on October 28 will be penultimate, so we invite everyone to experience the "fairytale within a fairytale" before its run draws the curtains!

"Well, this is no doubt an exceptionally handsome production. The Magic Flute lends itself to outsize glamour: it's rife with pomp, ritual, magic, and thunderstorms… As spectacle, it's immaculate. As music… It's impeccably played."

Ten years after its last performance, The Magic Flute returns to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre to engage a new era of opera-goers. Furnished with cascading rows of high-end seats, the historical indoor venue can accommodate nearly 2,800 guests and impress them with dazzling lights, acoustic precision, and immersive sightlines.

An opera in two acts, the storybook spectacle was conceived by legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. Join the brave Prince Tamino and the birdcatcher Papageno as they attempt to rescue Princess Pamina from the high priest Sarastro. Armed with enchanted instruments to aid their quest, the two will have to confront trials not only against their lives but also their very worldview. How will their ideals fare when put to the test?

Initially produced for the Canadian Opera Company, the production enlisted the creative talents of Diane Paulus on Direction, Myung Hee Cho on Set & Costume Design, and Scott Zielenski on Lighting Design. Retaining Cho's work, the Vancouver Opera's revival will be directed by Jessie Award winner Ashlie Corcoran and conducted by Maestra Tania Miller.

The Magic Flute will also be sung in the original German with projected English titles and symphonic arrangements by The Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
